Women and Child Nutrition

The rampant malnutrition among children and women in the tribal regions of India is well known, so much so that it has driven many tribes to the verge of extinction. Madhyanchal Forum is working for many such diminishing tribes in many north, central and western regions of India ensuring food and social security entitlements for them. Several studies conducted by Madhyanchal Forum have indicated that the genesis of this situation lies in the barriers limiting the access of entitlements to these tribes. Some of these barriers include flaws in public distribution system (PDS), apathy of the administration and other adverse social conditions such as discrimination against the poor and the deprived. To address the issue of malnutrition in these regions, Madhyanchal Forum has identified these communities and is creating an environment where in these communities have an easy access to government schemes and entitlements for food security. It is also making sure that certain communities get Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) status.

These groups are covered under specific schemes related to food security and nutrition.
